In Memoriam
How sad.
the passing of years see my heroes take their leave,
now William F. Buckley Jr. joins their rolls,
"a hero?" you ask,
"of course!" I reply,
the only man of substance,
other than Ronald Reagan,
who compelled a young man,
a nation,
fraught with insidious compunction,
to ascend summits insurmountable,
through sheer force of eloquence,
and intractable equanimity.
